Six Weeks to Wellness

“Skills for the Job of Living“~ Occupational therapy is a profession that focuses on function. We analyze activity and determine the most efficient and practical means of accomplishing anything you set out to do. As an OT in a variety of rehab settings, as well as having a personal passion for functional fitness, I am here to help guide you down the path toward lifelong wellness. This is a 6-week course, but my hope is that at the end of it you will have the tools to continue to grow or maintain your new lifestyle.

Does the thought of fitness and nutrition in the traditional sense make you want to grab a pair of sweatpants and cuddle up on the couch? Do you have an old injury that has prevented you from being able to participate in traditional fitness activities? Has it been so long since you’ve really been in shape that you’re overwhelmed by where to even start? If you are reluctant to dive into an exercise program, but know that you need to do something to improve your health, this wellness group might be for you!

“Six Weeks to Wellness” is an individualized program where we look at your medical history- including injuries and medical conditions, along with your fitness and personal goals. It’s a non-judgmental, no sales, no pressure program to help you become accountable for the lifestyle changes that you need to make to achieve your goals. I have over 22 years of experience as an occupational therapist in post-surgical and outpatient therapy, acute care, long term rehabilitation, pediatrics and even a brief time in a mental health setting. This variety of treatment areas and the holistic nature of occupational therapy as a profession has given me an appreciation for the importance of treating the whole person- physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Most experts say that it takes 30-60 days to create or change a habit. “Six Weeks to Wellness” can help you learn strategies to safely and easily incorporate healthy fitness and nutrition strategies into real life. We will look at your unique lifestyle, previous injuries or medical conditions, and of course your goals, to create a series of simple daily changes that will add up to big results. If you are looking to “dial in” your already healthy eating or seeking high intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts, this probably isn’t the course for you, but let me know if this is what you need because I have a friend who is an expert in that area and I’d love to get you in touch with her!

Six Weeks to Wellness will take a look at where you’re at currently, where you want to go, and the easiest way to bridge the gap between the two. You are always in control, I am just here to give you practical, science-based advice, support and guidance to help you take control of your own wellbeing. In 6 weeks you will go from looking at wellness as something overwhelming or unattainable to something that gives you an overall sense of wellbeing and fits easily into your lifestyle. We don’t need to be perfect and we don’t need to do it all- we just need to do something. I feel that people become so overwhelmed by the big picture that they lose sight of the small, simple steps that it takes to get there. We don’t need to do this alone.
